Dear friends, the day has finally arrived when we set sails and leave our home harbour GKSS Långedrag. After over a year with monthly planning and daily hard work of fixing, packing, diving, maintaining and learning, we are now on our way! Ulf and Anita are joining us for some weeks, sharing the joy and work on board. It was a very touching moment to stay on the deck of Ydalir, singing “Vem kan segla förutan vind” (an ancient Swedish song “Who can sail without wind”) feeling the pain of breaking up and letting go and leaving today at noon. THANK YOU everyone who came and shared this moment!

Planning, though, has become quite a challenge with the new factor Covid19. Our original plan was to got to the Shetlands, plan B was to go through the Kiel Canal, plan C to depart for Denmark. Now we are back on plan B again as the harbourmaster in Rendsburg confirms that we allowed to berth there. A week ago, our windlass broke down so we had to order a new from Italy and we are hoping to get it very soon. While we are waiting, we sail along the Swedish coast. Tonight we arrived at Kärringön after a smooth sail with pleasant winds, some rain, but forgiving and warming sunshine.
